— Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Sister Frieda Memorial Chapel for Rudolph R. [sic Rudolph F.] Toevs, 78, who died at the Bethel Home for the Aged on Monday, June 23. Rev. Arnold Epp officiated. Mr. Toevs was born in Marienburg, West Prussia, a son of Rev. Jacob R. and Helen (Funk) Toevs. Before coming to the Home here he resided at Nevada, Mo. for 45 years where he was a member of the Presbyterian church. A daughter, Mrs. Charles Gilbreth of Osborne, Idaho and several nieces and nephews survive.

RUDOLPH F. TOEVS

Father Rudolph F. Toevs, son of Rev. and Helena Funk Toevs, was born on Jan. 9, 1880, at Marionburg, West Prussia, Germany. The family came to the United States on Sept. 15, 1884, locating at McClain, Kansas. Here father spent his childhood years and grew to manhood.

On March25, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Linna Robb, a nurse. Much joy and happiness was brought into their home when they adopted their one and only daughter, Louise. In March 1956 the parents were permitted to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with many friends and relatives participating.

For 45 years he made his home in Nevada, Mo., from where he worked as a traveling salesman and later served as secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Nevada. Here he was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church.

Following mother's death on July 29, 1956, father made plans to return to Newton for the remaining years of his life. Coming to Newton in the spring of 1957, he lived with his sister, Mrs. Louise Entz, until he established his residency at the Bethel Home for Aged, where he lived until Monday, June 23, 1958, when he passed on to his eternal reward, to be with his Maker in eternal glory. He had been in failing health for the past few months.

He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Louise Gilbreth and her husband Charles of Osborne, Idaho, and their two sons, Jerry Douglas and Terry Lynn; also three sisters-in-laws [sic], Mrs. Emma Toevs, Catherine Wolffee, and Nell Hosteadt, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Sister Frieda Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 25,with the Rev. Arnold Epp officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
