Nickolas [''sic'' Nicholas] Franklin Toavs Jr., 45, former Kalispell, Mont. resident, died in Spokane, Wash. on Jan. 28, 1966 after a lingering illness.

He was born Sept. 6, 1920 in Wolf Point, Mont. He spent his early life there and moved to the Flathead Valley in 1948. He lived in Columbia Falls, then moved to Beaumont, Texas where he married Edna Louise Hurlbut on March 29, 1956. Later they returned to the Flathead Valley and lived in Kalispell until his death. Mr. Toavs belonged to the Salvation Army in Kalispell.

Nicholas received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior during his teens. He was baptized and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church of Wolf Point, Mont. He did much singing and wrote words and music to about 50 religious songs.

He is survived by his widow, Louise, a son, Wesley, of Kalispell, hid mother, Mrs. Katie Toavs, Columbia Falls, six brothers, Theodore and Martin, both of Wolf Point, Frank Toavs of St. Ignatius, Reuben Toavs of Hamilton, Arlie and James Toavs both of Columbia Falls, four sisters, Mrs. Thomas Heidner (Margaret) of Wolf Point, Mrs. Don (Ruth) Woolridge of Missoula, Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth) Lokken of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Lyle (Hannah) Shuttlesworth of Ferndale, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nick F. Toavs, a brother Wilmer, and a sister Susie, Mrs. herb Krahn.

Funeral services were held Feb. 2 in Johnson Chapel. Burial was in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell.
