MRS. KATIE TIESZEN

Katie (Graber) Tieszen, daughter of John and Anna (Schrag) Graber, was born near Marion in Turner County, South Dakota on April 30, 1892. She died at Freeman, S. D. on March 6, 1974, having reached the age of nearly 82 years.

She attended the rural schools of her neighborhood. On July 25, 1909 she was baptized and united with the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church. She was a faithful servant of Christ and His Kingdom until her death.

On Dec. 3, 1914 she was married to Isaac P. Tieszen with Elder Derk Tieszen officiating. They made their home in the Marion community during all of their years together.

Mourning her passing are her husband; five daughters, Lillian (Mrs. Reuben Glanzer) of Parker, S. D.; Selma (Mrs. W. E. Hieb) of Henderson, Neb., Delsie Bartel of Marion, S. D., Helen of Seoul, Korea and Ruby (Mrs. Don Waltner ) of Marion, S. D.; three brothers, Joseph J. Graber and Carl J. Graber of Freeman and Jonathan J. Graber of Salem, Ore.; two sisters, Marie (Mrs. Isaac Berg) of Marion, S. D. and Clara Graber of Freeman, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Ewalt and Albert, and one son-in-law, Leonhard Bartel, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Tieszen’s devotion to her family and her dedication to Christ and the church were an inspiration to all who knew her.
