Mrs. Henry (Smith) Thomas

Mrs. Henry (Smith) Thomas was born on October 4, 1904, on the farm near Lahoma, Okla. She lived in Major county all her life, except a few years spent in the neighboring county to the north. She was baptized by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff in Meno on February 27, 1921, and united with the New Hopedale church, of which she was a member until her death.

She attended the Oklahoma Bible Academy for a short term. On November 2, 1924, she was united in marriage to Henry Thomas of Ringwood, Okla. To this union was born one daughter, but the daughter passed away before birth.

She joined with the mission circle of Meno on March 3, 1932, of which she was an active member till her death.

In 1923 she suffered from a severe case of typhoid fever, as a result of which she never regained all her former vigor and strength. Then from the time of the birth of their daughter she remained somewhat weak, yet she never complained, but could always be found happy, and content.

She certainly believed in honoring her father and mother, and after she left home she kept up the attitude of honor, imbedding the same spirit into her husband.

On March 14, she became sick and on Monday, March 16, at 9 a.m. she died, as the result of pneumonia.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Smith of Ringwood, three sisters, Mrs. Ben Richert, Mrs. Arnold Wedel, and Lorena; one sister, Alvina, preceded her in death.

Also two brothers, Edwin and Harvey, 9 aunts and 5 uncles survive her. Three aunts an[d] one uncle preceded her. She reached the age of 31 years, 5 months and 12 days.

After the hour of sorrow, After the toil and pain
Maybe that on to-morrow
Jesus will come one day
Down from his home in Heaven
Back to the earth again.
Coming to meet his children
Ever with Him to stay
