ABRAHAM THOMAS

Abraham L. Thomas, son of Ludwig and Helena Thomas, was born Oct. 26, 1885. He spent his childhood with his parents on the farm seven and one-half miles southwest of Marion, S. D. He graduated from the home district school.

In 1919 he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Maria Kleinsasser. They settled down on a farm one mile southwest from his parents. To this union two children were born, Tony and Alma.

He suffered often and intensely. As a boy he suffered from painful boils and rheumatism. In 1919 he had a nervous breakdown. In 1920 he was taken to the Yankton State hospital. There he was taken care of for 33 years, until he died May 14, at 5 a.m.

He reached the age of 67 years, six months and 18 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing, one daughter Alma, one son-in-law R. A. Bertram; six brothers, Jakob of Marion, S. Dak., John of South Bend, Indiana, Friedrich of Freeman, S. Dak., Cornelius, Joe and Daniel of Marion; two sisters, Maria, Mrs. Frank Ewert, Dolton, S. Dak., and Eliesabeth, Mrs. Jakob Gossen, Hepburn, Sask.

Those who preceded him in death were: one son Tony, who died in infancy; two brothers, Isaak and Peter Thomas; four sisters, Susanna, Eliesabeth, Katharina (Mrs. Tobias Janz, Hillsboro, Kansas) and Carolina (Mrs. Henry Graber, Bridgewater, S. Dak.)

In his younger days he accepted the Lord as his Saviour. His life was full of suffering and of many trials. Our hope is that the Lord has given him mercy, grace and glory. — The Bereaved Relatives.
