HERMAN THIMM

Herman Thimm was born Sept. 7, 1885, the son of Johannes Thimm and Lizette Thimm nee Isaac, living near Beatrice, Neb.

In 1898 he joined his parents and other members of the family in moving to California. He lived in the vicinity of Paso Robles until 1919.

He accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour, making a public confession of his faith and receiving baptism on June 28, 1903. He joined the church known at that time as the San Marcus Mennonite church near Paso Robles. In 1919 he transferred his membership to the First Mennonite church of Beatrice, Neb. of which he was an active member at the time of his death.

On Sept. 26, 1918 he was united in marriage with Katie Hamm. After living in California for a year they established their home on a farm near Beatrice. God blessed this home with two sons: Robert H. and Irwin W.

In 1944 he retired from farming and moved to Beatrice. He enjoyed good health until recent years. The Lord called him home suddenly on Saturday, April 3, 1954, at the age of 68 years, six months and 27 days.

He leaves to mourn his sudden passing, his wife Katie; two sons, Robert of California and Irwin at home; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Robert Thimm; one granddaughter, Joan Diane; many other relatives and friends.

“Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” Revelation 2:10.
