ISAAC THIESSEN

Isaac Thiessen of St. Catharines passed away Oct. 13. He was born Nov. 23, 1910 to Abraham and Maria Thiessen in Gnadenheim, southern Russia. They immigrated to New Hamburg, Ontoin 1926, moving to Port Rowan, Ont. in 1910. He accepted Christ at a young age and was later baptized and joined Port Rowan MB Church. He married Lydia Lodde Apr. 2, 1938. He began a career in general and dairy farming. He was known as a hard-working man who spent few idle hours. In 1942 they bought the farm where they worked until 1976. Regular church attendance was important to him; he enjoyed singing in the choir, serving as a trustee and helping in various building and maintenance projects; for several years he helped care for the lawn. He suffered a severe stroke 6 years ago; these were the hardest days of his life, but his faith never failed; he looked forward to his devotional and prayer time each day. Predeceased by 1 brother and 1 sister, he is mourned by his wife; children Erika Klassen of New Hamburg and Elsbeth Teigrob and Peter of Port Rowan; 8 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 1 sister. The funeral was Oct. 16 in Port Rowan MB Church, with P. Teigrob and Arnie Neufeld ministering.
