ABE THIESSEN

Abe Thiessen, the eldest son of Abram and Lena Thiessen was born January 15, 1927 in southern Russia. That same year the family moved to Canada. While attending the Mennonite Collegiate Institute in Gretna, Man., in 1942, he found the Lord. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Griswold, Man., in 1951.

A year later he ·married Lillian Martens and they settled in Portage La Prairie, Man. They later moved to Winnipeg and finally to Richmond (Vancouver) in 1968. He enjoyed people and had a strong determination to carry through any commitments he made. The family appreciated the ten days granted to him in the hospital to share memories. He passed away on May 20 following a serious heart attack. He was predeceased by his brother Abram, his daughter Lorraine in infancy, and his father.

A funeral service was held May 25 in the Richmond Bethel Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Herb Brandt officiating.

Left to mourn are his beloved wife, Lillian; three sons, Kenneth, Gordon and Wayne; his mother; two brothers; four sisters; and many relatives and friends.
