PETER DAVID THIESSEN

Peter David Thiessen was born in South Russia on January 27, 1890. In 1913 he married Elizabeth Dueck and the Lord blessed their union with 14 children. Seven of these died during infancy and one, the eldest son, at the age of 29. In 1926 the family emigrated to Canada residing first in Steinbach, Manitoba and later moving to Coaldale, Alberta in 1935.

At the age of 33, brother Thiessen accepted the Lord, was baptized, and became a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church. He was predeceased by his wife in 1952.

In 1953 he married Tina Kliewer and together they enjoyed 12 years of happiness. After a lengthy heart ailment he was called home to be with his Lord. Hle died on February 21, at the age of 76. Hlis testimony was,"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Tim.4:7.

Funeral serrvices were conducted at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Coaldale on February 24 with Rev. D.J. Pankratz reading Revelation 21:3-7 as invocation and basing his message on Romans 5:12. Rev. H. P. Nikkel, nephew of the deceased, spoke on the provisions of faith, basing his message on 2 Oorinthians 5:1-10. Rev. H. H.Kornelsen read John 11:24, 2 Timothy 4:8 and prayed at the graveside.
