JACOB J. THIESSEN

Brother Jacob Thiessen of Leamington, Ont., was born September 12, 1884 in South Russia. On June 22, 1911 he was married to Justina Toews (widow) and God blessed this marriage with a family of eight children. Brother Thiessen was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church on June 5, 1922 and until the time of his death he was active in the work of the church.

In 1924 he emigrated to Canada with his family, where he settled on a farm in Alberta. In 1927 they moved to Jordan Station, Ontario.

In 1957 his first wife, with whom he had shared 46 years of joy and sorrow, predeceased him. On April 9, 1961 he was married to Katharine Driediger and the following year they moved to Leamington.

He died in the early hours of March 11, 1969, at his home, of a heart attack. He reached the age of 84 years, 5 months, 29 days.

He leaves his wife, 11 children, 38 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
