• At least five members of Reno County Mennonite churches were called away in death last week. Funeral services for Henry B. Thiessen, 68, retired farmer of Inman who died Thursday in McPherson, were held at the Zoar Church on Saturday afternoon. Services for Ben P. O. Graber, 81, who died Tuesday at Anthony Hospital, were held at the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church. On Sunday afternoon services were held at the Bethel Church near Inman for Sarah Fehdrau, 82, who died May 1 at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge. Another funeral was held at the same church on Tuesday of this week as services were held for Edward Ratzlaff, 59, mill employee of McPherson who died there May 3. R. A. (Rudy) Gaeddert, 63, employed in a Hutchinson garage, died as result of a heart attack at his home in Hutchinson of Saturday. The funeral was Tuesday afternoon at the Hutchinson First Church.

HENRY B. THIESSEN

Henry B. Thiessen was born to Abraham and Edith Bergen Thiessen on May 5, 1895 near Buhler, Kan. The Lord called him to his eternal rest on May 2, 1963 at the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 27 days.

At an early age he realized his need of salvation and in repentance and faith accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Upon confession of faith he followed the Lord in believers baptism and affiliated with the Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church near Inman, Kan. He loved his Lord and his church dearly. He served faithfully and conscientiously in various capacities in the church.

He was united in holy matrimony with Katherine Schierling on June 5, 1921. They made their home on a farm near Inman until 1957 when because of his health they purchased a home in Inman.

The Lord blessed the union with two sons, Edward and Allen. As a husband and father, he did not neglect his God-given duty to provide a wholesome and Christian atmosphere in his home.

In the fall of 1959 he was stricken with a severe stroke which seriously impaired his health. On May 1, 1963, his son Edward found him in an unconscious condition in his home. He immediately was admitted to the McPherson hospital, where he passed away the following day.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Katherine, of the home; two sons, Edward A. of Inman and Allen D. of Hutchinson; two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren; one brother, Dick Thiessen, Inman; three sisters, Ida, Mrs. John J. Wiens of Buhler, Helen, Mrs. A. T. Schierling of Inman, and Susie, Mrs. W. T. Schierling of Newton; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.
