Authority in Mathematics Dies at Alexandria, Va.

Berne, Ind. — Word was received here that Dr. Henry P. Thielman, 63, who had an international reputation as an authority in higher mathematics, died Feb. 18 at Alexandria, Va. Death was caused by a thrombosis.

Dr. Thielman was married to the former Lydia Liechty of Berne, and she survives with a daughter, son, seven grandchildren, a sister of Minneapolis and two brothers in Germany an Siberia, respectively.

At the time of his death Dr. Thielman was on the staff of the American University, and did research, writing and translation work. He was a researcher for Teledyne at Alexandria and consultant for Battelles, Columbus, O. He came to the United States in 1925, graduating from Bluffton College and receiving the M. A. and Ph. D. degrees from Ohio State University.
