• Funeral services for Rev. Jacob R. Sweigart, 87, were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Mennonite Church, of which he was a member. Rev. Sweigart lived in Newton for many years and since Dec. 12, 1961, resided at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. He died there Saturday after an extended illness. Officiating at the funeral services was Rev. Donald King, pastor of the Pennsylvania Church. Rev. Sweigart was born May 18, 1876, in Earl Township, Pa., the son of Chambers and Anna Sweigart. His wife, the former Hannah Shirk, to whom he was married Feb. 10, 1900 at Churchtown, Pa., died on May 11 of this year. Surviving are four sons and seven daughters and their families. They are: Joseph S., Wichita, Milton S. Perryton, Tex., Simon S. and Lee S. of Elkhart, Ind.; Esther of LeFors, Tex., Ada, Mrs. Walter Brickert, Mrs. Alice Manning, and Laura, Mrs. Lester Thompson, Elkhart, Ind., Margaret, Mrs. Harold Baker, Huntington Park, Calif., Mrs. Minnie Pippinger, and Jane, Mrs. Floyd Kauffman, Nappanee, Ind.
