• Funeral services for Mrs. Katharina Stucky, 90, widow of Christian C. Stucky, were held Saturday afternoon at the Eden Church, Moundridge, with Rev. Arnold Nickel in charge. Mrs. Stucky died Jan. 27 at Mercy Hospital. She was born at Moundridge in 1875 and lived there throughout her life. She leaves seven sons and three daughters and their families; a brother John B. Goering of Newton and two sisters.

Katharina Goering Stucky, daughter of Johann and Fren [''sic'' Freni] Krehbiel Goering, was born Oct. 5, 1875 near Moundridge, Kan. where she grew to young womanhood and also received her elementary training. She received her catechetical instruction into he Hopefield Mennonite Church and was baptized upon the confession of her faith by Elder Jacob Stucky on Oct. 4, 1891. After the Eden Mennonite Church was organized she transferred her membership and remained a member at Eden until her departure.

On June 9, 1895 she was married to Christian C. Stucky and thereupon took up the role of mother to four stepsons and one stepdaughter, loving and caring for them as if they had been her own. They were permitted to share life's joys and sorrows for almost 40 years. This home was broken on April 14, 1935 when her husband was called to his reward. This union was blessed with 13 children, eight sons and five daughters.

She enjoyed good health until 15 years ago when she submitted to surgery. She recovered from it very well and again piecing quilts and doing things around the house. In 1963 she entered the Memorial Home near Moundridge where she made her home and enjoyed the fellowship of aged friends.

In July of 1963 she had the misfortune of falling and breaking her hip. She again had to submit to surgery but through the skill of the doctors and the will of God she recovered again and could come back to her new home. She remained bedfast up to the time of her death. God called her to his heavenly mansion on Friday morning, Jan. 28, 1966 at the Mercy Hospital. She attained the age of 90 years, three months and 22 days.

Survivors include six sons, three daughters and one daughter-in-law, Peter R. Stucky, John J. and wife Esther, Elma, Mrs. Ben J. C. Stucky, Joe and wife Emma, Rose and husband Simon J. Schmidt, Phillip and wife Roma, David and wife Hilda, Felix and wife Viola, Ida and husband Jack Oliphant, Mathilda and husband Charlie Gehring, Walter and wife Ruby; 30 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 24 step-great-great-grandchildren, one brother, John B. Goering and wife Anna; two sisters, Freni, Mrs. Eli B. Stucky, and Emilie and husband Gideon Stucky and many other relatives and friends.
