Inman, Kansas Farmer Run Over by Tractor

BODY OF PAUL STUCKY, 60 YEARS OF AGE, FOUND IN FIELD BY NEIGHBOR

Inman, Kan. — A largely attended funeral took place at th Zoar church near here Sunday afternoon when last rites were held for Paul Stucky, 60, well known farmer here who was run over by his tractor.

Mr. Stucky apparently was the victim of a tractor accident at his farm southwest of here on Thursday, March 16, although the cause of the accident is not known. His body was found in the field Thursday night by a neighbor.

A native of the Moundridge community, Mr. Stucky had lived here the past 25 years.

Surviving are his widow, Martha; two sons, Paul of Miltonvale and Richard of Kansas City, Kan.; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Stude of Dodge City, Mrs. Dave Lutes of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Bill Schroeder of American Falls, Idaho; one brother, two sisters and nine grandchildren.

PAUL STUCKY

Paul Stucky was born on a farm near Moundridge, Kan. on November 6, 1900 to Andrew and Emelie [sic Emilia] Stucky.

He received his elementary education at Moundridge, graduated from Pretty Prairie High School and attended Wichita University.

On May 19, 1918 he was baptized into the First Mennonite Church of Christian, Moundridge, by Rev. P. P. Wedel. On May 18, 1930 he was baptized upon confession of faith into the Zoar Mennonite Church by Rev. John Esau. In 1936 he made his home on a farm near Inman, Kan. He was an active Christian, always concerned for the spiritual welfare of his family, church and community. Romans 12 was his favorite chapter in the Bible.

On May 20, 1928, he was united in marriage to Marie Esau. To this union five children were born. They shared joys and sorrows for a little more than 20 years. On Oct. 23, 1948 his wife passed away, leaving him with the children.

On Jan. 12, 1950 he was united in marriage to Martha Thiessen. This union lasted 11 years.

On March 16, 1961 he was taken from us suddenly by a farming accident in a field near his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Family members remaining are his wife, Martha; his sons, Paul R. of Miltonvale, Kan. and Richard of Kansas City, Kan., his daughters, Ruby, Mrs. Kenneth Stude of Dodge City, Kan., Anne, Mrs. Wm. Schroeder of American Falls, Idaho, Kathryn, Mrs. David Lutes of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren; a step-mother, Mrs. Lena Stucky of Moundridge; one brother, Alford of Partridge, Kan.; and two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Krehbiel of Pretty Prairie, Kan. and Mrs. John P. Krehbiel of Moundridge, Kan.; and a host of relatives and friends.
