MRS. MARTHA M. STUCKY

Martha M. Graber Stucky, daughter of John and Verona Stucky Graber, was born on Aug. 9, 1893 on a farm near Moundridge, Kan. She was the second youngest in a family of ten children. She moved with her family to a farm near Pretty Prairie, Kan. where she lost her father at the age of two. When she was five her mother died. She was grateful to her oldest sister, Anna, who raised her as one of her own.

She was married to Chris L. Stucky on Nov. 30, 1919, and they made their home on a farm south of McPherson until 1948 when they moved to their present home in McPherson. She appreciated having her own home, having been orphaned at an early age. They were permitted to share life's joys and sorrows for over 51 years.

She was baptized on March 27, 1910 by Rev. J. J. Flickinger and joined the Pretty Prairie Mennonite church. She joined the Eden Church after her marriage, and remained a faithful member until her death. She belonged to the Ladies Aid and enjoyed the work as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed piecing quilts and quilting, and had another one almost completed at the time of her death.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and found great pleasure in helping whenever she could. She will be missed by all her family. Even as her grandchildren grew older, they were always happy to visit Grandma.

After a brief illness she passed on at the McPherson County Hospital early Monday Morning, March 15, 1971 at the age of 71.

Survivors include her husband; one son Howard and wife, Mildred; one daughter, Mrs. Geneva Wedel; four grandsons; Allen Wedel and wife Bonnie of Phoenix, Ariz., Clair, Keith and Jerome Stucky; two granddaughters, Teresa and Dorothy Stucky; three brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her brothers and sisters, and a son-in-law Marlin Wedel.

Funeral services were held March 17 at the Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge, with Dr. H. A. Fast officiating.
