text of obituary:

JOHN G. STUCKY

John G. Stucky was born on Oct. 12, 1891 to Jacob C. and Barbara Preheim Stucky, who came to the Moundridge, Kan. community from Russia in1874 and settled south of town. He was the youngest of eight children, six brothers and two sisters. Louise Graber also became a part of the family. Two brothers died in infancy. One brother, Dan J., survives. He spent his entire life in this community except for two years spent in South Dakota.

At an early age he devoted his life to serve his Lord and was baptized by Rev. John C. Goering and joined the First Mennonite Church of Christian. He devoted his life to teaching a Sunday school class and also served as a deacon for many years.

He was united in marriage to Lydia Gering on Feb. 9, 1913 at Freeman, S. D. To this union were born four sons, Myron, Winton, Dwight and Wallace. They were blessed by enjoying companionship for 50 years, and three weeks ago celebrated their golden wedding with their family, relatives, friends and business associates.

He resided with his family south of town and engaged in farming for 11 years. He with his family then moved to South Dakota for two years, after which they returned to Moundridge to engage in the grocery business. In 1936 he established his own business with his sons.

He passed away quietly at Mercy Hospital on Monday, March 18, 1963, reaching the age of 71 years, five months and six days. He leaves to mourn his sudden passing his loving wife, four sons and their wives, 13 grandchildren, and one brother.

He enjoyed his grandchildren very much and was interested in every activity in which they were engaged. He also enjoyed working with flowers and shrubbery.
