DAN J. STUCKY

Dan J. Stucky, son of Jacob L. and Elizabeth (Goering) Stucky, was born April 15, 1887 near Moundridge, Kan. and passed away on Oct. 27, 1961. He reached the age of 74 years, six months and 12 days.

His early life was spent on a farm near Moundridge where he received his elementary and parochial schooling. On May 18, 1902 he was baptized by Rev. C. J. Goering and received as a member of the Eden Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member. In 1903, he with the family moved to another community near McPherson, Kan. where he grew to manhood.

He was united in holy matrimony to Bertha Krehbiel on Dec. 1, 1910. Together they shared companionship for 23 years. God blessed this union with five children. His wife, Bertha, passed to her heavenly reward on May 24, 1934. On Feb. 4, 1936 he married Marie Graber. They shared life's joys and trials for 25 years, six months, and 23 days.

Dan was of cheerful disposition even though he suffered many hours of pain. He was always ready to make friends.

About six years ago his health gradually failed, and he became weaker day by day until he had to be cared for as an invalid. With God's help, the efficient and capable care of his wife and the help of the doctors and nurses he was partly restored to health.

During his lifetime the home was always the center of activity. He enjoyed having his family close at hand. When he was not able to attend church any longer he faithfully listened to church services on the radio.

Four brothers and one grandson preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife, Marie; four daughters, Miss Edna Stucky, Mae, Mrs. Paul Schrag, Lulla, Mrs. Orlin Schrag, and Gladys, Mrs. Arnold Ediger; one son, Robert, three sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law, Elfrieda; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Val, Chris, and Jonas; two brothers-in-law and 10 sisters-in-law. — The Family.
