Arnold Stucky, son of Benjamin and Anna Stucky, was born on August 1, 1904, at McPherson, Kansas.
His early life was spent on the farm from which eh attended the district as well as the religious school. After finishing the common school education he attended Bethel College. While a student there he received Catechism instruction and was baptized upon confession of Faith and became a member of the Bethel College Church on May 7, 1922. later he transferred his membership to the Eden Church whose faithful member he remained until his death.
Arnold was a good student and was very active in all the outside activities of the Academy and college. He graduated from the Bethel College Academy in the spring of 1924. At this same institution he also completed the first year of his college training; and then transferring to McPherson College so that he might be at home while attending college there.
After having taught the public school of Elyria for one year he again took up his college work endeavoring to finish it and make teaching his life profession. But the Almighty had a different course for him. Because of failing health Arnold had to discontinue his college work before receiving his degree and lacked only a few hours of college work for graduation.
As a Sunday School worker he was always active and inspiring, remaining faithfully in his duties to the end.
He enjoyed favorable health until the last few years when a sudden attack of rheumatism and influenza weakened his physical constituion considerably. And about two years ago he became ill of pneumonia which again weakened his physical constitution, the effect of which may have contributed to his untimely death.
About a year ago he went to Albuquerque, N. M., where he spent a number of months in that beautiful climate which proved beneficial to hm and revived his health considerably.
However, a week ago he suddenly became ill with pleurisy and bronchitis and later intestinal influenza. he was immediately taken to the McPherson County Hospital for treatment and care. There the best of medical care and attention was given him. but his course had ended and he was called to the beyond early Sunday morning at one o'clock, May 18, 1930.
He reached the age of 25 years, 9 months and 17 days. He leaves his father and mother, one grandfather, his two brothers and many relatives and friends who remain as the bereaved to mourn his early departure.
But they mourn not as those who have no hope but as those who know that "if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved we have a building from God, a house not made with hands eternal in the heavens. For blessed are they which die in the Lord."
Funeral services were held from the home of the parents and in the Eden Church on May 20, 1930. Interment was made in the Eden Cemetery. — Moundridge Journal.
