Adolf P. Stucky, Sohn von Peter S. und Maria Kaufman Stucky, erblickte das Licht der Welt den 3. April, 1871 in Wolhynien, Rußland. In 1874 kam er mit Eltern und vielen andern nach McPherson, Co., nahe Moundridge, Kansas. Hier verlebte er seine Jugendjahre. Die ersten Monate wohnten sie mit 14 Familien im Immigrantenhaus. Am 21. Nov. 1886 ward er von Aelt. Jakob Stucky getauft und Glied der Hoffnungsfeld Mennonitengemeinde. Am 13. Febr. 1896 heiratete er Katharina Goering und es wurden ihnen 4 Töchter geschenkt. 1898 siedelten sie nach Pretty Prairie, Kansas über und schlossen sich der Pretty Prairie Gemeinde an, wo er ein treues Glied blieb. In den letzten Monaten war er nicht gesund, und am 12. Mai rührte ihn ein Schlag. Nach dem Hospital gebracht, entschlief er am 18. Mai sanft im Herrn im Alter von 71 J., 1 M. und 15 Tagen. Er hinterläßt seine Gattin, 4 Töchter, 3 Schwiegersöhne, 4 Enkel und viele Freunde sein Scheiden zu betrauern, doch nicht als Hoffnungslose. Beim Begräbnis redeten P. P. Wedel, E. J. Vaughn und P. P. Tschetter Trostworte: “Wir stehen hier am Sarge / und blicken in die Fern. / Der Vater ist entschlafen, / ist selig bei dem Herrn. / Er ist dem Leid entflohen, / aus dieser argen Welt / und preist den Heiland droben; / dort in des Himmels Zelt. / Der Feind bringt Mißverständnis, / oft in des Menschen Herz. / O das gibt ja viel Kränken / und oft auch großen Schmerz. / Es hat dem lieben Vater / das Herz oft schwer gemacht, / wenn er beim besten Wollen / von Freunden ward veracht’t. / Jetzt hat er überstanden. / Wir gönnen ihm die Ruh. / Er ist dort bei dem Heiland, / und ruft uns freundlich zu: / O haltet fest an Jesus / und gebt ihm Herz und Hand. / Er bringt euch durch zum Ziele / in das verheißne Land.

Adolph P. Stucky

Adolph P. Stucky, son of Peter C. and Maria (Kaufman) Stucky, was born April 3, 1871, in the Wolhynien Province in Russia.

In 1874 he with his parents came to America settling in McPherson county, Kansas, near Moundridge. Here he spent his childhood and youth. The first few months they lived in the Immigrant House with 14 other families.

From Elder Jacob Stucky he received catechetial [sic] and was baptized by him upon the confession of faith and received into the Hoffnungsfeld church on Nov. 21, 1886.

On Feb. 13, 1896, he was united in marriage with Katie Goering. This union was blessed with four daughters.

In January, 1898, they moved to Reno county near Pretty Prairie, Kansas. He transferred his membership to the Pretty Prairie Mennonite church where he remained a faithful member until his death.

The last few months it was noticed his health was declining. On May 12 he suffered a stroke and was taken to the hospital. May 16 he suffered another stroke. He departed calmly in peace with his Lord at four P. M. May 18, 1942, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Hutchinson, Kansas at the age of 71 years, 1 month, 15 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife, 4 daughters, 3 sons-in-laws [sic], 4 grandchildren, Rachel A. and N. P. Stucky, Moundridge, Kansas, Rose Mary and John J. Goering, Galva, Kansas, Emma Clara and Elmer J. Krehbiel, Fort Worth, Texas; Bessie E. Graber and daughters Pearl Mae and Lila Fern of Pretty Prairie; N. Paul Stucky, Fort Collins, Colorado, Menno Stucky, North Newton, Kansas, and many other relatives and friends.

His brothers and sisters and a grandson, Elmer Eugene Krehbiel, preceded him in death.

Short services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Lohrentz at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, May 20, at the home and at 2:15 at the Mennonite church by Rev. p. P. Tschetter, Rev. P. P. Wedel, and Rev. E. J. Vaughan.
