JOHN WILLARD STUCKEY
John Willard Stuckey was born Dec. 19, 1911 in Fulton County, Ohio and died at his home near Archbold on Dec. 11, 1979 at the age of 67.
A son of Peter j. and Anna (Short) Stuckey, he was married on Apr. 12, 1934 to Bertha Frey. To his union God gave three daughters: Annabelle (Mrs. Robert) Lerch of Pocatello, Ida., Orlene (Mrs. Walter) Mason of Grosse Ile, Mich. and Louise (Mrs. Steve) Rudo of North Royalton, Ohio; and one son, Allen Stuckey of Bellefontaine, Ohio.
He lived his entire life in the Archbold area where he was engaged in farming and was the owner and operator of Stuckey’s Bulk Feed Service for 35 years, retiring a few years ago.
At an early age he made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and grew daily in his commitment to Christ and the church. He chose to unite with the Lockport Mennonite Church, where his commitment was evident in the many tasks he performed. He was chairman of the building committee when the present church building was erected. For the past several years he had been in declining health, but his church attendance remained steady.
Surviving are his widow, all of the children; two brothers, Orville and Chauncey; two sisters, Alta (Mrs. Otto) Nafziger and Mary Stuckey, all of Archbold; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
A family service was held Dec. 14 at Shorts Funeral Home with Keith Leinbach and Charles Kamp in charge, followed by burial in the Lockport Cemetery. A memorial service was conducted at the Lockport church the same afternoon with Keith Leinbach and Walter Stuckey officiating.
