Lena Brandt Streun

Lena Brandt Streun was born May 21, 1897, in Marion county, Kansas, and reached the age of 43 years, 4 months and 21 days at the time of her death.

She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brandt. She moved with her parents to Gotebo, Okla., in 1902, where she was baptized upon confession of her faith by Rev. Henry Riesen and became a member of the Ebenezer church. She was a faithful member of this church until her death.

She was married to Fred W. Streun on Nov. 23, 1919.

She had been in poor health for a number of years and two years ago she underwent a major operation. The first week in September, 1940, she became seriously ill and came to Bethel hospital in Newton on Sept. 14. She was again operated on Sept. 28, 1940, and was doing fairly well untill Friday morning, Oct. 11, when she grew weaker and peacefully went to her reward on Saturday morning, at 1:10 o’clock.

Her parents preceded her into eternity in 1918; also three brothers who died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Fred W. Streun; 4 brothers and 3 sisters, A. J. Brandt, Reedley, Calif.; J. J. Brandt, Mt. View, Okla.; H. J. Brandt, Newton, Kansas; John Brandt, Gotebo, Okla.; Mrs. P. H. Reimer, Newton, Kans.; Mrs. J. J. Flemming [sic Flaming], Hillsboro; Mrs. A. H. Goertz, Mt. View, Okla., and many relatives and friends.

She was buried in the cemetery of the Ebenezer church, Mt. View, Okla.

Rev. J. J. Kroeker spoke at the house, Rev. G. Friesen and Rev. Henry Hege in the church and Rev. Abr. Froese at the grave.
