David V. Springer, son of John and Elizabeth Nafziger Springer, was born near Hopedale, Ill. Feb. 24, 1875, and passed away at the Gibson City Convaliscent [''sic'' Convalescent]] Home after an illness of 18 months, at the age of 79 years, five months and 26 days.

On Feb. 4, 1900, he was united in marriage to Lena A. Birkey of Dewey, Ill. They farmed near Hopedale for nine years, near Saybrook for 30 years, and then retired at their present farm near the East Bend Mennonite Church.

To this union were born six children: John and Elizabeth, at home, Aaron of Foosland, Kathryn of Cleveland, Ohio, Roy of Saybrook, Melvin of Indianalopis[''sic'' Indianapolis] Ind. These with his wife, three grandchildren, one foster grandchild, and five foster great-grandchildren survive him. Two brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.

In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and became a member of the Mennonite church of which he continued a faithful member to his death. He was an active member, serving as a Sunday school teacher and in other activities of the church. He was a loving husband and father, always interested in the spiritual, welfare of his family.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. at the home and 2:30 p.m. at the East Bend Mennonite church near Fisher, Ill. on Aug. 22, Howard Zehr officiating and Harold Zehr assisting. Burial was in the East Bend cemetery.

DAVID V. SPRINGER

David V. Springer, son of John and Elizabeth Nafziger Springer, was born near Hopedale, Ill. Feb. 24, 1875, and passed away at the Gibson City Convaliscent [sic Convalescent]] Home after an illness of 18 months, at the age of 79 years, five months and 26 days.
