MARY SPRINGER

Mary Litwiller Springer, daughter of John and Fannie Birkey Litwiller, was born near Delavan, Ill. on Feb. 2, 1879. She was an invalid for more than six years after suffering a hip injury, and passed away quite suddenly of heart failure. In the Hopedale, Ill. Hospital on May 5, 1963, at the age of 85 years, three months, five days.

She accepted Christ in her youth and had her membership in the Hopedale Mennonite Church, to which she remained faithful and loyal.

She was married to Joseph W. Springer on Feb. 9, 1896. They were privileged to observe their 60th wedding anniversary before his passing on Nov. 28, 1956.

The following children survive: Laura (Mrs. Silas Nafziger), Martha, Allan and Simon of Hopedale, Ill.; Elmer of Armington, Ill.; and Ada (Mrs. Paul Schertz) of Lowpoint, Ill. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. One daughter-in-law, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Three brothers, Amos and John of Hopedale, Ill. and Aaron of Morton, Ill. also survive.

She was a wonderful mother, always kind and thoughtful to her family. Her deeds of love will long be remembered by her children and grandchildren. She was an example of patience and was never heard to complain, although at times we know she endured more or less pain during her years of invalidism.

Funeral services were held May 7 in charge of her home pastor, Ivan Kauffman, and J. Robert Detweiler of Goshen, Ind. Burial was made in the Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery.
