JOSEPH SPRINGER

Our beloved brother in the Lord, Joseph S;ringer, was born in Buerau [sic Bureau] county, Ill., Nov. 11, 1863, and died at his home at the age of 82 years and six months on April 12, 1945. he died at his home in Princeton, Ill., where they had lived after retiring from the farm.

He had been a very active man up to about two years ago, when he began to fail in health. In the afternoon of April 12 he quietly passed away to be with his Lord. he had often expressed his readiness to depart from this life when the Lord called him. On Feb. 5, 1895, he was married to Mary Burcky, to whom were born two sons, Gilbert, now living at Princeton, Ill., and Edward, now living at Aurora, Nebraska. Their mother died May 5, 1898.

On Feb. 6, 1901, he was married to Lydia Sears of Tiskilwa, to which union were born three children, one of whom died in infancy. The other two are Mrs. Willis Slagel, now living at Flanagan, Ill., and Mrs. Roy Schertz, living near Princeton, Ill.

For 61 years Bro. Springer was a faithful member of the Willow Springs Mennonite church near Tiskilwa. He was always much interested in the various activities of the church and will be much missed. It had been said that if all church members were like Jos. Springer there would not be any church troubles.

Funeral services were held on April 14, conducted by the pastor of the Willow Springs Mennonite church, Bro. Chancey A. Hartzler. Bro. Springer was a good man. Peace to his ashes.
