Birth date: 1906
text of obituary:
. . .
— As far as is known, L. E. Spencer, 37 year old farmer who lived south of Newton, is the first one from Harvey county to be fatally stricken with infantile paralysis. He died Monday at a Wichita hospital after only a short illness. Also his two sons, aged 5 and 14, have the same disease. Since no new cases have developed in this vicinity, all Newton schools opened on Monday and it is hoped that the boys and girls can can continue their school work without interruption from now on.
