JOHN SPEISER

John Speiser, 65, of Saskatoon went to be with the Lord on March 12 after an operation and short illness. He was born February 28, 1904, at Laird, Sask., to Rudolph and Anna (Labun) Speiser. His childhood and school days he spent with his parents on the farm. He accepted the Lord as his Saviour at the age of eight.

He was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church at Laird when he was fourteen. In his youth, he attended the Rosthern Academy and Bethany Bible Institute. For many years he taught Sunday school in his church and he also served the Lord as trustee and church usher. He loved the Lord and prayed much, especially for the unsaved.

On September 19, 1937, he was married to Albertine Nikkel, and until three years ago they farmed near Laird. They had lived in Saskatoon since then. Mr. Speiser is survived by his wife; four sons, Larry of Outlook, Sask., Capt, James L. and Lt. David of Bagotville, P.Q., and Robert of Beechy, Sask.; four daughters-in-law; a daughter, Ruth; five grandchildren; three sisters and three brothers.

The funeral was observed in the Central Mennonite Brethren Church of Saskatoon on March 15 with the brethren Henry J. Harder and Nick Willems ministering.
