Pennsylvanian Dies Awaiting New Liver
Pittsburgh, Pa. — Liver transplant candidate Harley B. Souder, 49, died at a hospital here May 8 after a seven-year battle with liver disease.
Souder retired in 1985 after working as a diesel mechanic for more than 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, one son and one daughter. He was a member of the Souderton Mennonite Church.
Souder's battle against his disease and his hopes for a life-saving transplant had received substantial local publicity as friends and the Souderton community rallied to his support.
