EDWIN A. SOUDER

Edwin A. Souder of Telford, Pa., husband of Ruth Kraybill Souder and for 34 years a minister of the Gospel at the Rockhill Mennonite Church, passed away on April 17, 1958, at the age of 75 years.

He had been hospitalized for a few days at the Grandview Hospital, Sellersville, Pa. He had been in failing health for several months. An autopsy revealed cancer and hemorrhaging of the small intestines and a large ulcer which had spread to the liver, causing his death.

He was granted his desire to see all the children before his homegoing. Four sons living in other states arrived at the hospital a few hours before he passed on. For about two hours his spirit revived, while together we sang, prayed and talked. This was a most blessed experience and one which will never be forgotten.

Other than his wife, he is survived by ten children: Grace wife of Paul W. Kolb of Spring City, R. D., Elizabeth wife of Paul F. Allebach of Telford, R. D. 2, Irene wife of Norman Bechtel of Spring City, R. D. 1, Gladys wife of Irvin G. kolb of Spring City, R. D. 1 (these were four daughters from a former marriage to Ella Hackman), Iona wife of Harold K. Weaver of Collegeville, Pa., Mahlon K. of Telford, L. Kraybill of Sarasota, Florida, Norman K. of Spring City, R. C., Eugene K. of Grottoes, Va., Stanley K. of Sarasota, Florida; 62 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lincoln Gehman of Souderton; and one brother, Ervin Souder of Philadelphia.

Funeral services were held at the Rockhill Mennonite Church near Telford on April 21 at 2:00 o'clock, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. Services were in charge of Bishop Arthur Ruth, who used the text John 14:1-6. He was assisted by Clinton D. Landis and Alfred A. Detweiler.
