MOTHER OF “MENNONITE” EDITOR CALLED BY DEATH AT SMITHVILLE, OHIO

Orrville, Ohio. — Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia B. Smucker, 94, a resident of the Wayne County area throughout her life, were held Dec. 23 at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville. Rev. Virgil Gerig, the pastor, officiated.

Mrs. Smucker who had been in failing health for some time, died at her home Dec. 21.

Surviving are a son, Rev. J. N. Smucker of Goshen, Ind., editor of ”The Mennonite”; one daughter, Anna, of Smithville; a foster daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Nettleton of Rittman; a brother, E. J. Zook of Goshen, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
