EMMA (ZOOK) SMUCKER
Emma (Zook) Smucker, daughter of Jonathan and Fanny Zook, was born at Barker St., north of Vistula, Ind., on Sept. 9, 1875. She died from a cerebral hemorrhage at the Goshen, Ind. hospital Sept. 17, 1959, where she had been a patient for four days. Since January she had been in declining health. She reached the age of 84 years.
On Feb. 20, 1910 she was united in marriage to Jesse E. Smucker who preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1946. She dearly loved the church and was faithful in its support, uniting with the Clinton Frame Mennonite congregation in her youth.
Surviving are two sons, Paul of Philadelphia and Silas of Rensselaer; four daughters, Mrs. Edith Whipstock of Goshen, Mrs. Ora C. (Ruth) Yoder of Shipshewana, Mrs. Wm. (Anna) Ropp of Detroit and Mrs. Paton (Hazel) Yoder of Upland, Ind.; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two of the grandchildren, Mrs. Wm. (Evelyn) Alexander and Dale Whipstock, also grew to maturity in this home. Also surviving are two brothers, Joe Zook of Sturgis, Mich. and Oscar Zook, of Goshen, and three sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Ida) Hendrich, Mrs. Clarence (Ada) Schrock, Mrs. Mahlon (Verda) Hartzler, all of Goshen.
