● Kenneth I. Smoker, 71, who pastored churches in Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Missouri and Kansas, died March 17 at newton Medical Center. Services were held march 21 at First Mennonite Church, newton, with Verney Unruh officiating. Burial was at Eastlawn Cemetery near Hesston. Survivors include his wife, Rhoda; two sons, Russell of Harper and Guy of McPherson; five daughters, Rosalie Allen of Orleans, Ind., Carolyn Smoker of Wichita, Lucille Thomas of Santa Maria, Calif., Charlotte Claassen of Omaha, Neb., and Ellen Janssen of Homesville, Neb.; three brothers, Edward and Forrest, both of Lancaster County, Pa.; and Donald of North Carolina; a sister, Grace Smoker of Lancaster County, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
