Widow of Well-Known Church Historian Dies at Bluffton

Word has been received that Mrs. C. Henry Smith, widow of the well-known Mennonite historian, died Sunday, March 18, at Bluffton, Ohio. She had been a resident of the Mennonite Memorial Home there.

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday at the Bluffton First Mennonite Church.

C. Henry Smith and Laura Louisa Yoder were married at Tiskilwa, Ill. on Dec 26, 1908. Dr. Smith served for many years as professor of history at Bluffton College. The author of the widely read history, “The Story of the Mennonites,” he died in 1948.
