MRS. SIMON J. SMITH

Edythe Miller Smith was born Feb. 9, 1897, at McPherson, Kan., the daughter of John and Lydia (Boyts) Miller. She moved from Jet, Okla. to Goshen, Ind. 53 years ago and was married to Simon J. Smith by Pastor Raymond L. Hartzler on Aug. 24, 1924.

She was baptized upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord at the Mennonite Church in Jet, Okla., and after marriage became a member of the Eighth Street Mennonite Church of Goshen, Ind. Mrs. Smith was employed for many years in the county recorder's office. She became a partner in the Smith Motor Supply company upon her marriage, and was elected secretary-treasurer when the firm was reorganized into a corporation in 1949.

She was recently admitted to the Goshen Hospital, and died unexpectedly Saturday evening, April 11, at the age of 67 years. She had been in ill health the past month with cancer. Her husband and many nephews and nieces survive.

The funeral was held at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen, on April 15, with Pastor J. Herbart Fretz officiating, assisted by Pastor John Mosemann. Burial was in Violett Cemetery.
