90-YEAR-OLD RETIRED FARMER, BUSINESS MAN DIES AT EUREKA, ILL.

Eureka, Ill. — Funeral services for Chris H. Smith, well-known retired farmer, carpenter and implement dealer here, were held Jan. 5 at the Roanoke Mennonite Church. He died at the home in Eureka Jan. 2 at the age of 90.

A native of the Meadows community, he had lived in Eureka for 64 years. Surviving are a son, Edward L. of Wheaton; four daughter, Misses Martha, Lulu and Mabelle, and Mrs. Ralph Ulrich, all of Eureka; and three grandchildren.

CHRIS H. SMITH

Funeral services for Chris H. Smith, who died at his home at Eureka, Ill., were held Sunday, Jan. 5, at the Otto-Argo Funeral Home and the Roanoke Mennonite Church, Bro Wesley Jantz in charge. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born June 8, 1867, near Meadows, Ill., the son of Peter and Barbara (Neuhauser) Smith, and died on Jan. 2, 1958, aged 90 years and six months. He was in failing health but his condition did not become critical until a week before his death.

In 1893 he married Mary Imhoff at Metamora, Ill., and she preceded him in death on May 22, 1939. To this union were born seven children, the two oldest dying in infancy.

Surviving are Edward L. of Wheaton, Ill., Martha, Lulu, Mrs. Ralph Ulrich, and Mabelle of Eureka, and three grandchildren.

Yoder of Goshen, Ind.; Mrs. Clarence King of Pontiac, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Snyder of Ashley, Mich.; Mrs. Pearl Short of Archbold, Ohio; Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, Misses Lydia and Edna Oyer, and Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Smith of St. Johns, Mich.; Prof. and Mrs. Milton Smith of Lake Forrest [sic Forest], Ill.; Prof. and Mrs. Willis Snowbarger and family and Mrs. Forrest Nash of Kankakee, Ill.
