Killed When Car And Truck Meet Head-On
Shipshewana, Ind. — Funeral services were held at the Middlebury Mennonite Church July 19 for Albert D. Slabach, 30, who was killed in the early morning hours of July 17 when his car collided with a truck near Homer, Mich. It is believed he went to sleep at the wheel, his car swerving into the path of a semi-trailer.
The young man, who was single, was a native of Stark County, Ohio and had lived at Shipshewana most of his life. Recently he had moved to White Pigeon, Mich. with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David M. Slabaugh. He was employed by a boat company at Mottville, Mich.

TWO FATAL ACCIDENTS IN NORTHEAST INDIANA COMMUNITY
Middlebury, Ind. — Funeral services were held July 19 for Albert D. Slabach, 30, who was killed when his car collided with a truck.
His parents and a number of brothers and sisters survive.
At LaGrange, three-year-old Mary Whetstone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Whetstone, was crushed under the wheels of a trailer. A horse tied to the trailer became frightened and pulled the trailer over the little girl's body. Efforts to rush her to a doctor were of no avail, and she was already dead when the family reached the doctor's office with her. Her parents and two brothers and two sisters survive.
