MRS. EVA SINNER

Mrs. Eva A. Sinner (formerly Mrs. A. B. Richert), daughter of Peter B. and Susana [sic Susanna] Deckert, was born on April 4, 1869 in Russia. At the age of five she came to America with her parents, who settled in Ohio for several years and then in 1874 moved to Turner County, S. D., where they homesteaded.

At the age of 17 she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized on confession of her faith, becoming a member of the Mennonite Church.

In September 1887 she was united in marriage to Andrew B. Richert, a son of Ben B. Richert. To this union were born ten children, five of whom have preceded her in death — Fred who died in infancy, Nettie at the age of 26, Albert at 28, Susie at 65 and Ben at 69.

In the fall of 1910 they moved to Montana where they homesteaded near Richey. Here she was taken into the fellowship of the Bethlehem Mennonite Church of Bloomfield where she remained a faithful member until the time of her death.

On March 28, 1942 her husband passed away. In 1948 she was married to Jacob Sinner and moved to Sterling, Colo. where they lived until he passed away in 1957. She then returned to Richey, Mont. to live with her children.

On Feb. 27, 1961, the day of her death, she was happy and felt no pain. But she believed that her end was near and she sang in German the song, “So Nimm Mich Wie Ich Bin” (Take Me As I Am), and a short while later she was gone. Many times she had expressed her deep longing to go home to be with her Lord, and now shortly before she reached her 92nd birthday her wish was fulfilled.

She leaves to mourn, five children, Pete Richert of Portland, Ore., Toby Richert of Dallas, Ore., and Mrs. Merle Long, Mrs. John Boese, and Mrs. Ralph Graber, all of Richey, Mont.; four brothers, Tobias Deckert of Enid, Okla., Fred and Henry of Richey, Mont., Jacob of Alberta, Canada, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and many friends.
