JOHN SIEMENS

John Siemens was born March 5, 1900 in Friedensruh, Molotschna, South Russia and was raised by his grandparents, Jacob and Anna Siemens. In 1921 he married Margaret Kornelsen. Both received Christ as Saviour and were baptized and joined the Alliance Church in Lichtfelde in 1923. The came to Canada in 1925, moving first to Jansen, Sask., then Burns' Ranch, Alta. and in 1927 to Munson, Alta., where they farmed. In 1928 his wife Margaret contracted tuberculosis, which caused her death in 1930, leaving him with four small sons. That same year he found a wife and mother for his boys in Mary Reimer of Stavely, Alta. God blessed them with two more sons.

In 1951, following a heart attack he retired from farming and moved to Coaldale. Here he joined the Mennonite Brethren Church and remained a faithful member to the end. For a number of years he served as church treasurer, endearing himself to the members by his faithful service. He passed away December 24. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Rudy Heidebrecht in the Coaldale MB Church on December 28.

His last testimony before his illness was : "The Lord has been patient with me. To him be the honour for all that he has done for me. I know that my Redeemer liveth."

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Mary; six sons and wives: John of Drumheller, Alta., Jake of Red Deer, Alta., Abe of Calgary, Ernest of Lethbridge, Ben of Winnipeg and Albert of North Vancouver; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
