text of obituary:

MRS. JOHN P. SIEMENS

Mrs. John P. Siemens (Helen [sic Helena] Nachtigal) was born Jan. 26, 1885, near Buhler, Kan. to Jacob and Helena (Ratzlaff) Nachtigal. She died on Oct. 20, 1964, at the age of 79 years.

At 18 years of age she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. In 1922 she transferred to the Buhler Mennonite Church, where she was an active and faithful member till her death.

On Oct. 28, 1904, she and John P. Siemens were united in marriage. The family had planned to observe the 60th anniversary with their parents on Oct. 25. The Scripture used by Rev. Peter Flaming in their wedding service, Romans 12:12, “Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” served as a meaningful reminder of their Christian faith.

Mrs. Siemens is survived by her husband, two sons, Jake and his wife Dorothy and Herman and his wife Clara; one daughter, Sara and her husband John J. Franz; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. A. D. Schroder, Mrs. Henry Schroeder, and Anna Nachtigal; and four brothers, John, Jake, Pete and Henry Nachtigal. She was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, and by two great-grandchildren.

The committal service took place at th Buhler Cemetery.
