ABRAHAM H. SIEMENS

Abraham H. Siemens, son of Henry and Agnes Hiebert Siemens, was born on Feb. 21, 1888, in South Russia and came to America with his parents at the age of four years. They settled on a farm near Buhler, Kansas. Later he moved with his parents to Caddo County, Okla., where he spent most of his youth and received his elementary education. He was helpful to his parents in securing a livelihood for the family.

At the age of 17, our husband and father was convicted of his lost condition, was converted, baptized, and affiliated with the M. B. Church near Eakley, Okla. In later years he was affiliated with the Methodist Church. He was very religious and often grieved over the loose living of fellow Christians.

On April 3, 1908, he was united in holy wedlock with Gertrude Goerzen of Goessel, Kansas. To this union were born ten children, five sons and five daughters, of whom one son and one daughter died in infancy.

After their marriage, they made their home in Oklahoma for several years, then lived for five years in Kansas. They returned to Oklahoma where father resided with his family until 1946, when they moved to Reedley, Calif., where he lived until his departure. Here he served as custodian in the Reedley schools for five years.

He enjoyed fair health until about 1950 when he retired from more active duty. On Dec. 4 he was taken to the hospital where examination did not completely determine the cause of his illness. After two days he was removed to the Fresno County hospital where after eight days he had a heart attack, passing away unexpectedly on Dec. 14, 1956, at 6:50 p.m. at the age of 68 years, nine months and 23 days.

Our husband and father was much concerned about the welfare of his family. He enjoyed Christian programs over the radio and spent considerable time reading the family Bible.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Siemens, Reedley; four sons, Henry of Corn, Okla., Frank of Parlier, Calif., George with the Air Force in Panama, Canal Zone, Eddie, with the Air Force in Scotland; four daughters, Esther Hamburger of Denver, Colo., Rachel Barr of Parlier, Calif., Leah Duggins and Ruby McDougale of Hydro, Okla.; 15 grandchildren, five great0grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

We mourn, yet are comforted by the fact that we believe he has, by the grace of God, departed to be with the Lord, and we hope to meet him again where there is no more parting. His love and devotion to us his family will remain a treasure of blessed memories. — The Bereaved Family.
