Mennonite Brethren Herald obituary Apr 29 p. 35
Birth date: 1890
text of obituary:
MRS. GERTRUDE SIEBERT
(Mrs.) Gertrude Siebert (nee Neufeld) was born in Herzenberg, in southern Russia in 1890. Her childhood and teen years were spent in Gortschakawa. At the age of 18 years she accepted the Lord as her Saviour, was baptized and joined the Mennonite Brethren church. In 1916 she married Nick Siebert and was his faithful helpmate for 56 years until his death in 1972. The couple was blessed with eight children, four born in Russia and four in Canada.
In 1924 the Sieberts moved to Canada, settling in LaGlace, Alberta. They later retired in Greendale in the Sardis, B.C. area. Here in 1967 she suffered a stroke from which she recovered slowly and only partially. The last three years of her life were spent in the Menno Home in Clearbrook, B.C. On March 27 the Lord granted her strong desire to be forever in his presence. Her passing strikes an exultant note in the hearts of those who share her faith.
She is mourned by four sons and their wives, Abe and Cornelia, Nick and Mary, Henry and Mary, and Jack and Irma; four daughters, Gertrude (Mrs. Abe) Warkentin, Kay (Mrs. Clyde) Heller, Ann (Mrs. Henry) Nichol and Helen (Mrs. Peter) Goosen; a nephew, John Toews and his wife, Anne; 33 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Liese, in Russia; and many relatives and friends.
