Father and Daughter Fatally Injured In Automobile Accident

DOUBLE FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AT HENERSON, NEBR., SUNDAY, DEC. 30

Henderson, Nebr. — Double funeral services were held in the Bethesda church here Sunday, December 30, for Aaron Siebert, 36, and his six year old daughter Sharline, who were fatally injured in an auto accident on highway 81 near Shelby, Sunday evening, December 23.

Mrs. Siebert, the wife and mother is still in a critical condition at the York hospital.

Also two other children of the Siebert family were taken to the hospital after the accident. One of them had already been dismissed from the hospital and was able to attend the funeral of the father and sister.

At the time of the accident the Sieberts were en route to their home in Fremont, returning from a visit with his sister, Mrs. Ray Mierau in York. The Siebert car crashed into a truck loaded with stock. The truck had stopped to avoid a collision with an on-coming car. Because of the falling sleet visibility was poor.

The impact drove the Siebert car under the truck, crushing the occupants in the front seat, so that it was necessary to get a wrecker to free the car before the dead and injured could be removed from the wreckage.

Mr. Siebert, the driver, was killed instantly. he suffered a broken neck and chest injuries when the steering wheel pierced his body. The one child who was sitting in the front seat between the parents, died later in the hospital.

In addition to suffering a skull fracture, Mrs. Siebert received also a number of other serious injuries.

Mr. Siebert was born in this community, here he grew to manhood and received his education. He was formerly employed at Aurora by an elevator company, but resigned later to accept a position with the Farmers Union Co-op at Durchest. He accepted the management of the Co-op at Fremont only last month.

He is survived by his wife, son and daughter; two brother, four sisters, one, Helena, missionary in Africa, and three half-brothers. The funeral services were in charge of Rev. A. W. Friesen, pastor of the Bethesda church, and Rev. Dickinson, pastor of the Church of God at Aurora, who spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family.
