FRANK JACOB SIEBERT

Frank J. Siebert was born on June 28, 1888 in Conteniusfeld, Russia, the son of Jacob Henry and Katherine (nee Dick) Siebert. The span of his life was 89 years, 22 days, and he went to be with Jesus on July 20. He committed his life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized on May 13, 1907 by pastor Klaas Enns. He and Agatha Loewen were married in 1917, and happily celebrated their 60th anniversary in June.

Life brought them both joy and sorrow. They were blessed with 10 children, but five sons died in infancy. The political turbulence following the war and revolution led them out of Russia in 1926, to Canada, where they made their home first in Pincher Creek, then in Peace River and Coaldale, Alberta. The family moved again to Ontario in 1943. They resided for a time in Jordan, then moved to their home on 1st Street in Vineland. Frank Siebert was a farmer most of his life, and knew the meaning of hard work. The last ten years of his working career were spent at General Motors , after which he enjoyed 19 years of retirement. To the end he was an enthusiastic gardener and walker, making many friends. He delighted in the achievements of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After a stroke in early July his time of suffering was short. To the day of his passing he never lost the enthusiasm, self-confidence and faith in God that so clearly marked his life.

He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Agatha; his children and their spouses, all of whom live in the Niagara Peninsula: Jim and Nita Siebert, Tina and Jacob Thielman, Helen and Peter Dirksen, Elsie and Peter Thiessen, and Hilda and Albert Schellenberg; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.
