Henderson, Neb. Couple Killed In Collision
SERVICES AT BETHESDA CHURCH FOR ALMON F. AND ERMA SIEBERT
Henderson, Neb. — Double funeral services were held at the Bethesda Mennonite church here Feb. 24 for Mr. and Mrs. Almon F. Siebert, young farm couple of this community who were fatally injured Friday, Feb. 19, when their car collided with a truck near Nelson, Neb.
It is estimated that more than 1,000 persons attended the services, which were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Arnold Nickel. The unusually moving service was closed by comforting songs by a double male quartet.
Feeling the loss most keenly are the Sieberts’ two children, Nancy, nine years of age, and Dwight, seven, who had remained at home the day of the fateful trip to attend school. Mrs. Siebert is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich P. Peters of Salem, Oregon, and five sisters, including Mrs. J. P. Ratzlaff of this community. Mr. Siebert was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Siebert of Henderson.
The couple was on a trip to Superior to investigate some farm land when their car went out of control on the slushy, snow covered highway 14 and swung into the path of a truck. Mrs. Siebert, 39, is believed to have died instantly, and her husband, 36, passed away early Saturday morning in the Superior hospital.
