ADOLPH SHIER
Adolph Shier was born in Winnipeg on March 12, 1905 to Adam and Amelia Shier. At the age of 19 he accepted Christ as his Saviour, was baptized a short time later, and became a member of the North End Mennonite Brethren Church (later known as the Elmwood Church).
On June 3, 1933 he married Rubina Kliewer. The Shiers resided in Winnipeg for 33 years, before moving to Vancouver in 1966. The Lord blessed them with three sons and one daughter. Mr. Shier was employed as a woodworking machinist for 30 years, and lived a full and active life. In his earlier years he played baseball and always maintained his interest in sports . A quiet, nonaggressive man, he was a better listener than a talker, and always had a friendly smile. He loved his church and for many years served as an usher. He was a faithful steward of earthly possessions given by God, read avidly in his later years, and was known as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
After a series of heart attacks and a kidney ailment, the Lord took him home on September 3.
He is mourned by his beloved wife, Rubina; three sons and one daughter and their spouses: Art and Charlotte, Jack and Mary, and Don and Margaret, all of B.C., and Diane (Mrs. Len) DeFehr of Alberta; 11 grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters; and a large host of friends.
