MRS. FANNIE SHENK

Fannie Shenk, daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Graber) Schrag, was born Oct. 12, 1884, near Dallas, Oregon; passe away at the Rock of Ages Home, McMinnville, Oregon, on June 17, 1969, age 84 years, eight months, and five days.

On Nov. 24, 1910 she was married to Daniel Shenk at Hubbard, Oregon, who preceded her in death in June 1962. Surviving are three sons, Lloyd of McMinnville, Oregon, Kenneth of Sheridan, Oregon, and Ronald of Vanderhoot, British Columbia; one daughter, Mildred (Mrs. Enos Schrock) of Sheridan, Oregon; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. She was the last surviving member of the Schrag family.

She became a Christian in her early teens and was active in church work, teaching Sunday school classes, conducting children's meetings, attending sewing circle, and filling her role as a minister's wife. She was especially gifted in the art of story telling, and those who have known and loved her have lasting impressions from these experiences. She often related the history of her Mennonite ancestors, who migrated throughout Europe, and how her parents came to America from Russia and the many hard circumstances the Schrag family experienced during her early childhood.

Although she was in poor health for many years, she cared for her family with loving devotion, ministering to their physical and spiritual needs.

She was a member of the Sheridan Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held June 20 with Marcus Lind officiating. Interment was made in the Mennonite cemetery.
