CHESTER SHANK

Chester R. Shank, 47, or 720 George Street, Scottdale, Pa., died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, July 26, in the Massena, N. Y. hospital, after suffering a heart attack. He and his family were vacationing in a cabin 20 miles from Massena.

Mr. Shank was born Dec. 2, 1919, in Franklin County, near Chambersburg, Pa., a son of Clarence Shank of Marion and the late Mrs.

Mr. Shank was employed by the Mennonite Publishing House as a stripper and plate maker. He served on the House Advisory Group, Personnel Counseling Committee, Mutual Aid Committee, Spiritual and Social Welfare Committee and Safety Committee. In 1961 he was awarded a Master Printers Certificate by the Printing Industry of America for offset stripping and plate making. He was recently honored for 20 years of service at the Publishing House.

He was a member of the North Scottdale Mennonite Church and the Southmoreland District School Board. He also conducted a general insurance agency.

Surviving in addition to his father are his widow, Mrs. Mary Emma Zook Shank; three daughters, Louise, a senior at Bluffton College, Norma and Betty at home; one brother, Merle Shank of Chambersburg, and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Ellen) Hunsecker of Marion.

Funeral services were held at the Frank Kapr Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. July 29, with Rev. Gerald A. Studer officiating, assisted by the Rev. Keith Esh. Interment was made in the Scottdale Cemetery.
