Berne, Ind. &#8212; An accident on fog-shrouded Indiana 427 east of Hamilton, Ind. claimed the life of Noah J. Schwartz, 60, a resident of the Steuben County Amish settlement and a native of the Berne community.

Mr. Schwartz was a deacon in the Amish church. The funeral service on Monday, Dec. 13, was attended by relatives and friends from a number of states, including two bus loads from Lancaster County, Pa. The widow is the former Annie Hertzler of Dover, Del.

Investigating officers said Mr. Schwartz was riding in a buggy being pulled behind a wagon load of corn when the buggy was hit from the rear by a car. He was thrown 67 feet, and died at the scene of a skull fracture.

The car also hit the wagon and knocked off the rear wheels, but two teen-age sons of Schwartz riding on the wagon, were unhurt. They were Noah N. J., 17, and David N. J., 14.

Crash on Fog-Shrouded Indiana Highway Fatal to Farmer

Berne, Ind. — An accident on fog-shrouded Indiana 427 east of Hamilton, Ind. claimed the life of Noah J. Schwartz, 60, a resident of the Steuben County Amish settlement and a native of the Berne community.

Mr. Schwartz was a deacon in the Amish church. The funeral service on Monday, Dec. 13, was attended by relatives and friends from a number of states, including two bus loads from Lancaster County, Pa. The widow is the former Annie Hertzler of Dover, Del.
