Kick From Horse Fatal To Lad At Berne, Ind.

COMMUNITY GRIEVED OVER TRAGIC DEATH OF DAVID U. SCHWARTZ

Berne, Ind. — This community was deeply touched and grieved over the death on July 1 of 11-year-old David U. Schwartz, who died as result of being kicked in the face by a horse.

The lad was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel M. J. Schwartz, and it was also at the Schwartz home that the accident happened on the previous day. Hit squarely in the face, David had suffered a broken nose, skull fracture and severe injury to his right eye.

David, helping his father, was getting a team from the barn for hitching it to a farm implement when one of the horses reared up and kicked him.

He was rushed to Parkview Memorial Hospital at Fort Wayne where he briefly regain consciousness at various times but succumbed on the day after the accident.

Funeral services were held at the Schwartz home Friday, July 4, Min. Joseph L. Schwartz officiating.
