Business Leader At Pandora, O. Dies

Pandora, Ohio. — Funeral services for Edward E. Schutz, 64, well known Pandora businessman, were conducted Oct. 26 at the Grace Mennonite Church here. Rev. Virgil Gerig, the pastor, officiated and was assisted by Rev. E. J. Bonn of Goshen, Ind.

A lifelong resident here, Mr. Schutz died in a Lima hospital several days after, suffering a heart attack at his home. He was a director of the Pandora Bank and of the Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative, a former member of the township board of education, and a deacon in the Grace Church.

EDWARD E. SCHUTZ

Edward E. Schutz, 64, prominent and esteemed farmer of east of Pandora, Ohio, died Oct. 24, 1962 in Lima Memorial Hospital. His death followed a heart attack suffered at his home the previous Saturday.

A farmer all his life, Mr. Schutz specialized in feeder cattle, potatoes and other produce along with his regular farm crops.

He was a member of the board of directors of the Pandora Bank, was a deacon of the Grace Mennonite Church at Pandora, and was one of the promoters of the Christian Rural Overseas Program (CROP) in the Pandora Community over a period of years. He was instrumental in the promotion of the Agricultural Trainee Program of the Mennonite Central Committee, and was for years an active sponsor in this program. He was a former member of the Riley Township Board of Education and the Hancock-Wood County Electric Cooperative.

A native of Riley Township, Mr. Schutz was born on May 26, 1898, the son of Albert and Sarah (Bixler) Schutz. He was married to Estella Hilty in 1920.

His widow survives with three sons, Oliver of route 1, Pandora, Arthur at home, and Maurice of Findlay; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Balmer of Pandora, Mrs. Maynard Amstutz of Springfield, Ohio, and Miss Ann Schutz, at home; 14 grandchildren; and two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Schutz, Route 1, Pandora, and Mrs. Reuben Schumacher, McComb. A daughter, Anna Christine, a sister and five brothers preceded her in death.

Services were held Friday, October 26, at the Grace Mennonite Church with the Rev. Virgil Gerig officiating, assisted by Rev. Ernest J. Bohn. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
